Work-Life balance has been called unobtainable, or even a myth by many business professionals. But Dr. Travis Parry has a different perspective. According to Dr. Travis and his 10+ years of research, achieving balance is possible, and should be pursued by every entrepreneur. Dr. Travis Parry is the creator of the Make Time Method and is the author of Achieving Balance. In this episode, you’ll learn how to begin achieving work-life balance in our overworked world!

Dr. Travis Parry starts off this episode by giving us his definition of balance.

Balance: It is all about how you use your time. If you can be at the top of your priority list all the time, then you will feel balanced. – If you spend more time doing the things you love, you will be more productive at work!

3 Myths of work-life balance:

Myth #1 – Work-life balance is not achievable. This is not true, you can have it all, but you can’t do it all at one time.

Myth #2 – Productivity alone is a magic pill. Setting boundaries is the answer to this myth. You cannot be a workaholic. If you don’t create boundaries for yourself, someone else will set them for you. Without boundaries, you will eventually burn-out.

Fear of failure keeps people motivated to be a workaholic. When you really resonate with your motivation and love what you are working towards you can let go of that fear. – This can be one of the greatest sources of stress.

Myth #3 – Self-actualization/Personal development is the end all be all. In truth, relationships are more important. A spouse is the number one person that can help a workaholic to keep boundaries and stay prioritized.

Dr. Travis Parry’s final thought:

Balance is all about reaching your goals. Do something, work towards your goals, you will have such a greater work-life balance.
